This is the background of the shoot that the boy open the door of the elderly.

It is a close up shoot to let people know that, they do not really close their door.

They just hold the lock there and they don't afraid thief coming.

Therefore, I have some motion about playing football.

This is the corridor, I have draw this again because the old one does not match with the other scene.

The color tone I have change and also the line is more even in the background.

This background will show in the animation as less 3-4 times.

The door I have not finish, I will daw them in another layer for them to move.

On the left is the house of the main character.

Animation_2

This is the motion test of two legs walking in the corridor.

There is some problem that the leg does not look like walking, may be the time stay on the ground is not enough.

I need to have some change about that.

Background_7

This is another view that for the little playground.

There is a house on the side of that place.

It is very easy to hit that door when children play football.

And alos that are some window for the better air flow inside the house.

And this background is for the children back home after they play football.

This is the same background of the kitchen but the line of another one is too thick.

Therefore, I have draw this one to make sure that all background have the same style.

This is the part that the character walking on the corridor.

And it is showing one leg.

The in-between does not enough, so the motion is not smooth enough.

Those two background is for the scene that the two children walking in the corridor.

That part the two children will walk and have a talk about 15s, so I have to make that scene not so boring.

Therefore, I have those two scene show the environment of the corridor.

This is about the some pipe outside the house, that for counting the amount of water used in that room.

This is the door outside one of the room.

Background_4

This is the house of the main character, the view is form the outside to inside.

In this shot, I want to have a zoom in. However, the line maybe thick that my tutor remain me.

I have to think more about it, the worst situation is I have to change the idea.

Just fade out form the large scene about the building and fade in to the inside.

I have to think more about this.

And I have to start found people to act the voice of my character.

Background_3

This is the background of the kitchen, at 70's people did not used gas as the fuel for cooking.

They use the  kerosene as the fuel.

And the kitchen is small and mother will put many things inside.

Odject

At that time, kids always playing football at the "little playground". However, they may not have enough money to buy a real football. It is too expensive.

Therefore they will use this kinds of ball which made by plastic, and called "西瓜波".

It is cheap but very hard.

This is the pets for all the boys when they was young. It is called "金絲貓".

Boy love to feed them using some small spider or ant.

It is a kinds of spider, and they will fight to another one. It is very funny!

The indoor ground

This is the indoor ground. At 6,70's most of the people using this kind of "紙皮石" to cover the ground.

They made different pattern by themselves, and this is the most common pattern.

This background is for the top shot of the two kids playing.

The other background and character

This is the same "little playground", just change the dimension to 1920 X 1080 for the future use.

There is a shot about the children playing football in the "little playground", but they will imagine there is a court. 

And also the camera angle is the same as the "little playground shot".

This is the main character. The character reference is "二十世紀少年". But I am worry about the motion of this character, because the motion must like a real human, it not easy for me to draw it.

Maybe I have to find more reference on the motion of the character, mainly the japan cartoon.

This is to show does the character match with the background. For the scene is ok but it does not match with the scene "Corridor".

Maybe have a little bit change on that scene.

Background Design

The Style of the background:

Corridor.

The outlook of the building(彩虹村) - This background is quite big that enough for zoom in at the opening.

The "small playground" on each floor. - This background is for the children to play football and have party.

Project Brief

Project Title: Neighbor (An animation talk about the relationship between neighbor)

Target audience: Age range: 20-40

Project background:

   Nowadays, people in HK have a better living condition then before, we have a bigger house, better furniture. However, the relationship between neighbors is worse than before. The entire doors are closed and the corridor is very quite. People live in their comfortable house; talking and sharing between neighbors are less. The worse and also common case is they do not the surname of their neighbors.

   There are many reasons for this phenomenon, for example: changing of the life style, Western cultures replace Chinese culture, the changes Social Formation, the changing in the living environments, individualism easy be found in Hong Kong.

   To change this phenomenon, it must started from the group of people have the strongest felling. The people lived in those villages will have the strongest felling, and the age of them now are older than 20. And also the media I use is animation, so I set the age of target audiences is 20-40; but I will also use the history of those people which is older than 40, because they may have the same experience when they live in village.

   The core message is to remind people that we had a more harmony society at 70’s; the life is harder but we are easier to feel happy. We feel happier because we will share we food and also feeling to other people face to face. There are many things changed, but we also can have that better relationship with our neighbor, it just depends on us.

   The concept is using the daily life that happened at 70’s, by using the elements that only appear in the old villages, for example the wood and cloth on the brake, the “air window ” that near the top of the brake, the large place in front of the lift, the pattern of the wall at the stairs… There are many special designs in the old village, each of them has a special reason, and people have some happy memory. Therefore, I will use them for the reference of the environments to make a story, which can remind people, the old life style.

   This project aims at raising the public concerns on the relationship between neighbors.
